  • Setting up a log file

    Hi there,

I purchased Zoom yesterday afternoon and have it installed and fully working on a clients site already. This is a great bit of software so I'd just like to say thanks. I just have one last thing to sort out though and need a bit of help please?

I want to set up the logging option so I can produce Reports for the client so they can see what's be searched for on their site. I found the instructions on doing this a little confusing though. This is where I am:

I have enabled the 'Search Logging' feature in the Advanced tab and specified the log file as

    http://www.mysite.com/search/logs/statistics.log

I then created a blank text file called 'statistics.log' and uploaded it into the above location (/search/logs/statistics.log).

I then re-indexed the site and uploaded all the files and performed a few searches. However, I got a PHP Warning about not being able to write to the log file. I think I may have not set the permission properly - can you confirm what they should be (755, 644, etc?) The error message was:

Warning: fopen(http://www.mysite.com/search/logs/statistics.log): failed to open stream: HTTP wrapper does not support writeable connections. in /home/jgenv1/www/search/search.php on line 1727
Unable to write to log file (http://www.mysite.com/search/logs/statistics.log). Check that you have specified the correct log filename in your Indexer settings and that you have the required file permissions set.
Or have I not created the log file in the proper way?

    Hope you can help?

    Cheers,
    Dave

    Sorry!

    Hi Again,

Please ignore my post - I have sorted it out now. I was using an absolute path to the log file rather than a relative one in my Config settings.

I found the answer inside another post about the same problem, which also contained a link to a page in your support section which explained it all. Apologies for posting the question here...

    Cheers,
    Dave
