Links to local files do not work

When I mouseover a file on the results page, the status bar shows "Shortcut to file:///C:/doc.pdf (local)" Nothing happens when I click the link. If I copy the url by right-clicking on the link and paste into address bar, the file will load. Any ideas?

I see this must be an IE security measure. Will it be possible to index once, and use for intranet and offline?

Yes, Zoom will work fine for intranet sites and does not need a connection to the internet to work.

However you should probably think about installing a webserver on your intranet. If you have links like file:///C:/doc.pdf, then I assume you just have a shared network drive and don't have a real intranet.

It turned out to be something very simple. I needed to check "Scan files linked via "file://" URLs in spider mode. Works fine now. Now I'm off to create some custom search pages.
