We have upgraded our main server this morning. This is the server that runs this forum and our web sites.
There was a minor outage of around 10min. But Everything is now back up on new server hardware.
We had been on the old machine for over 2 years and it was time to update.
The server is now running a Xeon E5-2630 Hexa core (12 threads), 16GB DDR3 ECC RAM and mirrored Intel SSDs. The previous machine was a Intel Q8300 Quad core 6GB RAM and a 7200 RPM drive. The operating system and web server software were also updated.
So the new machine should be between 2 to 5 times quicker. This should be noticeable when running searches on the web site and browsing the forums.
Should anyone notice anything not working correctly, please let us know.
